“Schizophrenia is a Serious Concern but Treatment is Possible” — Dr. Mahendra Tiwari

On the occasion of World Schizophrenia Day, the
Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC Jaipur),
in collaboration with Maharaj Vinayak Global University (MVGU), Jaipur,
organized an awareness program on May 26, 2025.
The theme of this year’s event was: “Rethink the Label: Reclaim the Story”,
aimed at breaking myths surrounding schizophrenia, promoting mental health awareness,
and providing accurate information to the public.
The program commenced with a Saraswati Vandana, followed by a warm
welcome to dignitaries and participants. Mental health experts, students, social workers,
and members of the community actively took part in the session.
The event began with an inaugural address by Dr. Mahendra Tiwari,
Registrar of MVGU, who emphasized the importance of understanding mental health conditions.
Dr. Manohar Bhatt, Chairperson, explained that schizophrenia is a serious
mental disorder that affects a person’s thinking, emotions, and behavior. It is a complex
condition that can cause detachment from reality and hallucinations if left untreated.
Dr. Yogesh Yadav, COE of MVGU, also shared his insights on the occasion.
From CRC Jaipur, Mr. A. Jayachandra, Assistant Professor, Department of
Speech & Hearing, provided detailed information about the services offered by CRC.
He explained the identification, treatment, and rehabilitation process for individuals
with schizophrenia and conveyed the important message that mental health conditions
are as common as physical illnesses and can be treated effectively if addressed in time.
The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about schizophrenia and
encourage collective responsibility towards mental health.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by
Mr. Kuldeep Singh, Assistant Professor, CRC Jaipur.
Mr. Neeraj Madhukar, Director of CRC Jaipur, expressed his satisfaction
over the successful conduct of the program. He highlighted that CRC Jaipur continues to
make consistent efforts through such initiatives to foster inclusivity, mental
health awareness, and social sensitivity.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including Dr. Vinod Kumar, Head of
the Education Department (MVGU), Mr. Shyam Sundar Sharma, DOE Coordinator
(MVGU), Ms. Bhavana, Assistant Professor, Mr. Pankaj Kumar Yadav,
Assistant Professor, and Ms. Sheetal Sharma, Assistant Professor, among others.
