National Webinar Organized on Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) 2025

On the occasion of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) 2025,
the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC Jaipur)
organized a one-day National Webinar on
May 15, 2025. The event was conducted in collaboration
with the National Association for the Blind (NAB) – India, Mumbai, and
Orbit Research, Vadodara.

The webinar commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Neeraj Madhukar,
Director of CRC Jaipur, who greeted all the distinguished guests and participants.
He highlighted the remarkable initiatives undertaken by the Government of India in recent
years to promote accessibility, such as the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan,
the Yes to Access mobile application, the conversion of books into
accessible formats, and the development of learning materials in sign language.

Following this, Mr. Gopal Krishna Agarwal, Chief Advisor at NAB India,
addressed the participants and shared valuable insights on accessibility and inclusion.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Vimal Kumar Dengla,
Acting General Secretary, NAB India. He elaborated on NAB’s significant contributions
and ongoing efforts in the field of accessibility and inclusive development.

The technical session was led by Mr. Nirmal Verma, Head of Educational
Technology (India), Orbit Research. He discussed educational technologies and innovative
solutions for promoting inclusivity. He highlighted Orbit Research’s initiatives aimed
at integrating innovation with India’s cultural and social needs, thus helping persons
with disabilities adapt better. He also introduced tools like the
Daisy Player and Orbit Chat, which are provided free
of cost by CRC Jaipur to persons with disabilities.

This was followed by an engaging Q&A session conducted by
Mrs. Vandana Baranwal, Educational Consultant at NAB India, where she
addressed queries from participants.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by
Mr. Kuldeep Singh, Assistant Professor at CRC Jaipur.

The national webinar proved to be a significant step forward in promoting
technological inclusion and accessibility awareness for persons
with disabilities, bringing together experts, innovators, and participants from
across the country.
